Musical Philosophy:
Music & Teaching has proven to be Tyler’s Passion throughout his entire life. From his early years studying Suzuki Piano to Electric Guitar in his teens, to Music production and performance in his adult life…
Tyler has marketed himself as a private music teacher for over 25 years and has nurtured excellence in hundreds of young musicians.
His Philosophy is gathered from many different influences & practices, yet one has stood out him more than others throughout his entire career:

Tyler is wonderful with Kids of all ages. His enthusiastic and positive energy make it fun to learn this very difficult subject and is what makes him one of the best in his field.
He has written hundreds of songs with dozens of artists and performed on some of the worlds most iconic stages. His extensive travels have also brought him lifetimes of musical experience and knowledge, that he incorporates in his methods.
Tyler is devoted to making the world a better place through the young people he inspires.
Early Years & Education:
Starting off in Leadership development programs 2000, he was elected Senior Class president after ‘Rapping’ his speech to his 250 person class. Tyler then went on to ‘Rap’ a graduation speech, recited it in front of 3000 people in the Jesuit High School auditorium.
In High school Tyler worked at Portland Music. His band ‘Beyond Reason’ started performing downtown and was recognized in the Oregonian Newspaper in a full page debut 2 days in a row.
In College at University of Oregon, Tyler became the ‘Super Fan of the Year’ in 2006 and was selected by MTV to do a ‘Tailgate Tour’ show that featured his character.
During College, his band 5-South, named after the dorm room they rehearsed in, recorded 2 albums and played at many school events.
Tyler earned a Bachelors of Science in Pre-med where he graduated with honors in 2006.
From 1998-2005 Tyler attended 5 Berklee College of Music Summer camps in Boston & LA.
From 1996-2016 Tyler attended over 20 Social Venture Network conferences specializing in Sustainable Business.
After College Tyler got a job working at Park Academy school for the Dyslexic in Portland Oregon, where he was awarded certifications in special education & studied in a Graduate Program at Marylhust University for Education.
In 2008 Tyler joined the World Touring Surf-Rock-Reggae band ‘The B Foundation’ in LA, as their lead guitarist and played over 400 shows, traveling 250,000 miles living out of a van & suitcase on $10 / day, all over the North American Continent.
In 2011 Tyler Moved to South Lake Tahoe to become a ‘Ski Bum’, where he met his Soul Mate Ra Vogel.
In Tahoe, Tyler was the house musician on the Tahoe Queen dinner cruises, started his own private music service (Jedi Music School) and performed at casino night clubs impersonating Sonny Bono.
From 2014-2017 Ra & Tyler backpacked all over SE Asia, India and Central & South America, living overseas for over 12 months, where he studied Yoga, Mediation and World Music.
in 2016 Tyler completed a 300 hour Yoga teacher Training and Permaculture certification course at Punta Mona in Costa Rica.
Since 2003 Tyler has survived 9 Burning Man Festivals.
Ra & Tyler got Married 7/7/17 in Humboldt CA and moved to Maui in 2018.
ON Maui…
Tylers first Job on Maui was with Haleakala Waldorf School where he still works today as a Music Specialist since 2018. Currently he works at the High School leading the ‘Smartphone Zombies’ Rock band Ensemble.
Tyler was a Sales Manager at Bounty Music, where also helped run their music school and teach.
Since 2021, TiKi Tyler (Tyler’s stage name) currently holds a residency at the South Shore Tiki Lounge in Kihei, where he performs Loop Music every Friday 4-6.
During the Pandemic Tyler started Zoom Music Island, started teaching Online and founded his S-Corp SUBTLE NOTES Inc.
In 2024 Tyler wrote and produced a multi-media experience for Art=Mixx at the MACC and performed in front of 5300 people.
